Dystopian chills
A dark and disastrous future
While the future presented by Atwood may be dark the reading is not (not in the same way as
The Road with its unremitting bleakness). The story is told in flashback to reveal what has gone wrong in the world.
Atwood has a clever way with product names. Strong environmental ideas resonate through the narrative.
