American Dirt ~ Jeanne Cummins

Read it before but it's not in this blog! kept thinking it was familiar

A good read of the horrors of escaping the Mexican drug cartels.  A little fanciful at times (eg the relationship between the heroine and the drug boss)

Artificial Condition (Murderbot DIaries #2) ~ Martha Wells

Like #1, a reading palate cleanser ... a quick and enjoyable read, immersive sci-fi world. Fun Murderbot

All Systems Red (Murderbot Diaries 1) ~ Martha Wells

 Rogue Robot

Enjoyable, engaging, snappy sci-fi

I was just looking for a little palate cleanser and this was perfect.  A short book, a quick read ... and have ordered the next in the series!

All The Colours of the Dark ~ Chris Whitaker

 *** LIKE

This started out as 4-5 star read.  Ripping page turner with a great premise, excellent character development and interaction, well written dialogue.  If only it had finished half way through.  The second half of the book was an anchor that dragged it down to boredom and cliched triteness.

Anthem ~ Noah Hawley

 DID NOT FINISH

What a load of verbosity leading nowhere

Garbage that luckily I was able to return for a refund.

After The Crash ~ Michel Bussi

OK

Nothing more that a fanciful trash read.

A ludicrous plot driven by ridiculous characterisations.

The Amber Spyglass ~ Philip Pullman

FAVOURITE

A re-read of His Dark Materials Part 3 before the TV series.

It was my least favourite of the books when I first read the series and was this time too, though for different reasons.

I felt it was too jumpy and disjointed, tying up loose ends, tying in old characters and yet introducing too many new characters.
